چکیده

The use of computer algebra systems in Mathematics education could and should in uence the future curriculum how to teach integration. The traditional way only brie y touches the area problem, to switch very quickly to antidi erentiation. Graphical representations as well as symbolic and numeric capabilities of modern computer algebra systems like DERIVE enable enhanced teaching techniques: students can easily access graphical representations of area approximations, the integrals of many elementary functions can be determined by limits of Riemann sums, recurrence equations for de nite integrals can be automatically detected using partial integration. This method has the advantage that the students learn to judge the quality of area approximations better, that numerical integration methods easily can be studied, that the development is more on the historical lines, that the importance of the fundamental theorem can be better understood. Furthermore it is easy to study series representations, e.g., as a byproduct of integration techniques. Using DERIVE this leads to a new concept of how to teach integration which will be demonstrated by practical examples.

Wilson wavelets for solving nonlinear stochastic integral equations

A new computational method based on Wilson wavelets is proposed for solving a class of nonlinear stochastic It^{o}-Volterra integral equations. To do this a new stochastic operational matrix of It^{o} integration for Wilson wavelets is obtained. Block pulse functions (BPFs) and collocation method are used to generate a process to forming this matrix. Using these basis functions and their operat...

Ray-tracing and Interferometry in Schwarzschild Geometry

Here, we investigate the possible optical anisotropy of vacuum due to gravitational field. In doing this, we provide sufficient evidence from direct coordinate integration of the null-geodesic equations obtained from the Lagrangian method, as well as ray-tracing equations obtained from the Plebanski’s equivalent medium theory. All calculations are done for the Schwarzschild geometry, which resu...

Primitive Ideal Space of Ultragraph $C^*$-algebras

In this paper, we describe the primitive ideal space of the $C^*$-algebra $C^*(mathcal G)$  associated to the ultragraph $mathcal{G}$. We investigate the structure of the closed ideals of the quotient ultragraph $  C^* $-algebra  $C^*left(mathcal G/(H,S)right)$ which contain no nonzero set projections and then we characterize all non gauge-invariant primitive ideals. Our results generalize the ...
